Brazilian Cassia Moura beat Adele Fornarino by split decision in the main event of UFC BJJ 12 on Thursday (8) at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. With the win, she claimed the organization's first women's flyweight belt and became the first athlete to hold two UFC BJJ titles, since she is also the bantamweight champion.

A close match

Fornarino started better. In the first round, she took the match to the mat, attacked Moura's legs and threatened a heel hook, while the Brazilian received a stalling warning.

In the second round, Moura fought back: she took her opponent down with a double-leg takedown and took the back late in the round.

The third round had a pause for a doctor check after a thumb to Fornarino's eye. Moura worked from top and received another stalling warning, and Fornarino nearly finished with a leglock as time ran out. The judges gave the win to the Brazilian by split decision.

Canuto lightweight champion

In the co-main event, Renato Canuto beat Ethan Crelinsten by unanimous decision and took the vacant lightweight belt. Canuto spent much of the match on top and, in the final round, took the back, locked a body triangle and attempted a rear-naked choke and a reverse D'Arce. Crelinsten threatened footlocks late, but could not finish.
