UFC BJJ 12 takes place this Thursday, October 8, at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, United States. The card starts at 21:00 Brasília time (20:00 on the US East Coast), streaming on UFC Fight Pass.

Moura could make history

In the main event, Brazil's Cassia Moura faces Adele Fornarino for the organization's first women's flyweight belt. Moura is already the UFC BJJ bantamweight champion and, if she wins, will be the first athlete to hold two of the event's belts at the same time.

Both reached the final through the division's tournament. In the semifinals, in August, Moura submitted Bre Stikk with an armbar, and Fornarino beat Carol Brunacio with a footlock.

In the co-main event, Renato Canuto and Ethan Crelinsten meet for the lightweight belt.

Burns away from MMA

Gilbert Durinho Burns faces Gabriel Almeida at middleweight. In an interview with the Combat Press website, the Brazilian said he is happy not to fight MMA anymore and explained that he left the sport after feeling a loss of explosiveness and suffering two concussions. He said he will compete aggressively and that a submission over Almeida could put him in contention for a belt.

In September, Burns also had a wrestling match against Khamzat Chimaev at the Real American Freestyle event.
