LL Cool J tells Joe Rogan's podcast he has started training jiu-jitsu
The rapper and actor said the sport is fun and "very humbling." He trains in Brooklyn, New York, with Brian Glick, a student of John Danaher.
American rapper and actor LL Cool J said he has started training jiu-jitsu. He talked about it on episode 2561 of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, released on Tuesday, October 6.
According to LL Cool J, training has been "a lot of fun." He also described jiu-jitsu as a humbling experience and joked that beginners show up thinking they are tough guys and quickly find out that is not quite the case.
Who the coach is
Asked by Rogan where he trains, the artist named coach Brian Glick, who teaches in Brooklyn, New York. Glick is a black belt and a student of John Danaher, one of the best-known coaches in grappling, who in turn came up under Renzo Gracie. Rogan praised the lineage. LL Cool J said he was connected with Glick through a friend.
Other martial arts
Before jiu-jitsu, LL Cool J had already practiced other martial arts when he was younger, such as karate and wing chun.
Joe Rogan remarked during the conversation that fame and charisma do not help anyone escape a bad position on the mat.
